Brian Gearinger has been named a finalist for the Consumer Attorneys of California’s (CAOC) 2025 Consumer Attorney of the Year for his work in Loggervale v. County of Alameda, alongside co-counsel Craig Peters and Joseph May.
In this groundbreaking civil rights case, a jury awarded record-breaking damages to a black mother and her two daughters after sheriff’s deputies unlawfully detained, handcuffed, and searched them without cause. The verdict, the largest in U.S. history for a civil rights case not involving incarceration or physical harm, stands as a powerful condemnation of race-based policing.
The winner will be announced during the Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on November 15th at CAOC’s 64th Annual Convention in San Francisco.
More information about the convention can be found on the CAOC website: https://caoc-convention.com
