Santa Rosa, California, July 31, 2024 – Brian Gearinger, founder of the Gearinger Law Group, has been accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
ABOTA dedicates itself to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. Members in this prestigious invitation-only group must have tried a minimum of 10 civil jury trials to verdict. More than 7,600 lawyers and judges participate in ABOTA chapters in all 50 states.
“ABOTA is one of the nation’s most effective organizations in championing the ethics, professionalism and principles of the legal profession, and I’m honored to be part of this select group,” Brian said. He added, “I am the son and grandson of trial lawyers, so somewhere my dad and grandpa are smiling.”
Finally, Brian thanked two longstanding friends for this prestigious recognition. Craig M. Peter, co-founder of Altair Law, nominated Brian to ABOTA after they tried a civil rights case together resulting in an $8.25 million verdict. The Honorable Monica F. Wiley, Supervising Judge of the San Francisco Unified Family Court, sponsored Brian’s application to ABOTA. Judge Wiley mentored Brian when they both were Deputy City Attorneys at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office.
The Gearinger Law Group specializes in assisting people injured in catastrophic accidents and enforcing the civil rights of our unprotected citizens. When asked about what he enjoys most about his practice, Brian responded: “I get to help people solve problems that they cannot solve on their own.”
Brian’s practice mainly is limited to the Sonoma County Superior Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He serves as a settlement panelist, demurrer facilitator, and discovery facilitator for the Sonoma County Superior Court. Prior to moving his practice to Sonoma County, Brian practiced for 25 years in San Francisco starting with Hancock, Rothert & Bunshoft, LLP before joining the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. Brian started his own firm in 2004.
